Bucket Filler or Bucket Dipper?
I have been reading the book How Full is Your Bucket by Tom Rath and Donald Clifton. The basic point of the book is we should be fillers of people's buckets, rather than dippers into their buckets. In other words, be an encourager rather than a discourager.
Now I'm not talking about fluffy words of a cheerleader, such as "You are so awesome!" or "You are just great!" No, to be an effective bucket filler of people you need to be specific and genuine. This takes intentiality and authenticity.
For myself, I need to start this practice with my wife and sons. I would say I didn't start off too great today, but tomorrow I plan on doing better.
Will you join me? Will you make it YOUR goal to be a bucket filler and not a bucket dipper in the lives of those God puts in your reach? I challenge you to give it a try!
